1st Annual Jazz/Blues Concert – A Success

Thanks to all who attended I Challenge Myself’s 1st jazz benefit concert, Monday, May 21, 2012!  Donations raised at the  jazz benefit will go towards Cycling Smarts and the College Bike Tour.  None of this could be accomplished without our most valuable players – donors like you.  It was a night of wonderful jazz, blues, and folk from talented musicians and singers Valerie Larsen, Ray Khalil Duo, and Ayanna Lee.

Valerie’s original composition titled Harlem was a tribute to her new home is NYC.  The song was blues to the core and reminiscent of the glory days of the Savoy Club. Her blues/folk infused voiced made everyone in the audience want to head to Harlem.

The The Ray Khalil Duo brought us to jazz basics 101 with their original composition titled Bronx Blues.

Lastly, Ayanna Lee wowed us with original compositions and covers that had the audience begging for more.  All artists generously volunteered their talents in support of the I Challenge Myself mission.

Thanks for our event MC’s Natasha and Raquel Cowan– two Cycling Smarts Alumni who were among the first group of students who participated in our launch program in 2005.
